I’m a little late chiming in on the subject, but did you make any New Year’s resolutions? I made three at the beginning of 2006, and I think I did pretty well.
- Finish losing the weight. Check. I consistently fluctuate between 103 and 105 and that makes me happy. I feel good and look good, and I’m healthy. That was the point all along.
- Be more bold. Check. I did a lot of things in 2006 that I never thought I would do including quitting my job without another to go to, moving back home to live with my parents, return to waiting tables, and dating.
- Write or journal more. Well, half-check. I did write a lot the first few months of 2006. It was a kind of therapy during the second-guessing and the realization that leaving was a good thing. And then I quit my job and stopped writing for a while. A really long while. I did start writing again, but not here. The stuff that I was writing was too personal, too dark for anyone but me. But I’m hoping to make writing here a bit more of a regular thing again.
Considering I did pretty well on my 2006 resolutions, I figured a couple more for this year wouldn’t hurt.
- Maintain the weight for one year. The goal is to go over 110. Anything between 100 and 110 will be considered a success.
- Stop slouching. I share a desk (and therefore a chair) with two other people at my part-time job at the hospital and I’m constantly slouching when I write or do any other activity at that desk. I also slouch when I’m driving and sitting at the dinner table.
So there we go. Here’s to new beginnings.
