The Great Move of 2004 will begin in just over 12 hours.

Catch y'all on the flip side.

Wait.

I've said that before haven't I?

Does reserving two tickets to this make me a big nerd?

I knew it!

I'm going anyway.

Wednesday, February 25

The Great Move of 2004 is going to commence on Saturday. The packing is nearly finished. The lease is signed, the truck confirmed and the utilities switched over.

I'm not looking forward to it all. I don't mind the change - in fact, I kind of enjoy that. I like the putting away and finding new places for old things.

But I'm downsizing and my pride is taking a bit of a hit. I know that I'm downsizing for the right reasons, but I really haven't fully convinced myself of that quite yet.

It just kinda hurts right now.

Well, with the help of my mom and brother, the packing has commenced.

Pictures to follow.

Thursday, February 19

I need to start packing. Soon. An event which I've decided to title The Great Move of 2004 will commence in just over a week's time. There is nothing really extraordinary about my upcoming move that would label it Great in any way. I'm really only moving about 20 miles from where I live now. But saying the The Great Move of 2004 sounds much more exciting than I'm moving from my old apartment to a new apartment next week.

I have to admit there was a bit of a hurrah when I decided that I was going to move. First, I didn't even want to move. I like the apartment I'm in now. It's spacious and in a nice neighborhood. I have access to a fitness area and pool. And I have my own washer and dryer. I know. It's that cool.

My new place is smaller and up three flights of stairs. It means packing up all my stuff - and I have an amazing amount of stuff for just one person. It's in a decent location. I'll have to join the YMCA and give up my in-apartment washing and drying luxury.

But I'll be saving about 20% in rent, be located closer to family and friends and maybe get my ass toned doing all those stairs.

At this point, the bad stuff still feels like its outwaying the good stuff. But I think that might be because I haven't started packing yet.

UPDATE:
Before the packing.

Wednesday, February 18

I've got lots of things on my mind.

Sometimes lists help.

  • My birthday was quiet and uneventful. Which was nice after the last two weeks of tons of people, five shows and a lot of stress.

  • But it reminded me that I'm surrounded by family and friends who care.

  • I'm moving a week from Saturday and I haven't begun to pack yet.

  • Or change my utilities.

  • Or rent a truck.

  • Or do my taxes.

  • Or have my passport renewed.

  • I'm spending almost all day in a full team meeting led by man whom a co-worker gave a rapper nickname.

  • And not because he's cool.

  • I've taken off 3 1/2 days in the last two weeks.

  • I wish I could take 3 1/2 more.

  • I got an allergy shot on Monday, which has made me feel 100% better.

  • But now my voice cracks and I sound like a 13 year old boy waiting on puberty.

  • *~*~*

Well, Nuke's scared because his eyelids are jammed and his old man's here. We need a live...is it a live rooster? We need a live rooster to take the curse off Jose's glove and nobody seems to know what to get Millie or Jimmy for their wedding present. Is that about right?

We're dealing with a lot of shit.

    I feel that.

It's official. I am now a resident of the State of Illinois. I now have in my possession a valid Illinois state driver's license, Illinois state license plates and a registered voter's card.

Oh, and I'm an organ donor too.

Welcome to the Land of Lincoln.

Now I just need to figure out where to get my passport renewed.
